Jesus Maria Herrera Moreno (Linares, Jaén – Spain, 1987) is one of the most active spanish pianists of his generation. Having been granted 24 prizes at piano competitions, he has performed as a soloist, in chamber music and with orchestra in Spain, France, Germany, Austria, England, Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland and Norway.
He began his musical studies in Fuengirola and Málaga, pursuing them mainly in Seville with Pilar Bilbao, Paris with Olivier Gardon and at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Cordelia Höfer.
He has also received private lessons and masterclasses from Alicia de Larrocha and Aldo Ciccolini (with whom he currently studies).
In Paris he obtained the “Diplôme d'Études Musicales”, a Bachelors Degree in Musicology from the Sorbonne University and the “Diplôme National Supérieur de Musique”.
He has taken masterclasses receiving the valuable influence of many great artists such as Blanca Uribe, Eldar Nebolsin, Sequeira Costa, Fabio Bidini, Andrzej Jasinski, Einar-Steen Nökleberg, Robert MacDonald, Sergio Perticaroli, Bruno Canino, Claudio Martinez Mehner, Andrew Ball, Christopher Elton and Yefim Bronfman amongst others.
He has obtained the following prizes: Various prizes at piano competitions at conservatories, the 1st Prize and Special Prize for the best interpretation of Spanish music at the "Muñoz Molleda" Competition in La Linea de la Concepción, the 1st Prize at the “Ciudad de Bollullos” Competition, the 1st Prize at the "Muestra de Jóvenes Intérpretes" in Málaga, the 1st Prize at the Competition in Villanueva del Rosario, the 2nd Prize at the SCAEM Competition in Granada, the "Rafael Orozco" Prizes at all three categories of the “Marisa Montiel” in Linares aswell as the 2nd Prize and the Musicality Prize at the highest category of this competition, the 2nd Prize (1st Prize not awarded) at the "Vittoria Caffa Righetti” International Competition in Cortemilia (Italy), finalist and best pianist at the "Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist Competition” (England), the “Dina van Driesten” Prize, “Festival Chance” Prize, Audience Prize, Young Jury Prize and a Special Prize for his "beautiful pianistic tone" at the "Klavierpodium" International Comeptition in Munich (Germany) and the Interpretation Prize at the College d'Espagne in Paris.
